The 2017 Honda CR-V offers many features to be excited about. It’s clear that Honda has stepped up their game and created what Edmunds calls “a remarkably well-rounded crossover… It’s not only the best CR-V yet, it may well be the best small crossover, period.” It is important to note that the 2017 CR-V comes in four trim levels- LX, EX, EX-L and Touring. For the purposes of this post, we will be featuring the Touring.
Under the Hood
The engine of the 2017 Honda CR-V has been redesigned, closely resembling the engine in the Civic. This 1.5-liter turbo-four (190 hp, 179 lb-ft) “packs an outsized punch from its 2,000-rpm torque peak all the way to redline,” according to Edmunds. Because of the new engine, the CR-V gets an impressive 28 city mpg and 34 highway mpg, according to EPA projections.
The 2017 CR-V was redesigned with a more athletic exterior. The rearmost side window has been reshaped in an upward tick and the L-shaped taillights give the rear a broad-shouldered presence. The 2017 CR-V is larger than past models. It has 1.4 inches of extra height, width and wheel base. There’s also a larger ground clearance, the AWD model having 8.2 inches compared to the previous 6.7 inches. One of the best features on the new 2017 CR-V is the hands-free power tailgate. “As long as you have the key on you, you can kick your foot under the tailgate and it’ll open up,” explained Miguel Torres, Brand Specialist at Hoffman Honda. “It’s a great feature that a lot of customers love.”
The biggest and most notable differences between the 2016 and 2017 models come in the interior. The materials used on the 2017 model are softer, luxurious and visually appealing. The touchscreen interface has been adapted as well, now featuring the much-requested volume knob. The instrument panel on the 2017 model has been upgraded with two new screens, a seven-inch touchscreen, and a colorful driver interface, according to AutoBlog. The driver’s seat comes with eight-way power adjustments, ensuring optimal comfort for any driver. Additional changes include a more contoured steering wheel, a forward bin, sizable cupholders and a long, deep bin in the center console large enough for a purse.
The back end of the 2017 model is even more spacious than before, with an extra two extra inches of legroom in the backseat! Your passengers won’t mind taking the back seat and you’ll enjoy the extra space when trying to mount a rear-facing carseat. Cargo space has also been upgraded. With the back seats up, the CR-V boasts 39.2 cu ft. of space- that’s an upgrade of 2 cu ft. When the back seats are lowered, the CR-V has a whopping 75.8 cu ft. of space!
The 2017 Honda CR-V is miles ahead of its predecessor in every way. The CR-V is the best-selling SUV in the United States for a reason. Schedule a test drive today to see for yourself! Call Hoffman Honda at (866) 537-0505.
