After the stormy winter weather that the Northeast has experienced this week, many Connecticut drivers have been asking themselves the same question:
Why is my car shaking after the blizzard?
This can be alarming for drivers, as it can range anywhere from a slight shaking of the steering wheel to intense shaking of the entire vehicle. But before you make an appointment at one of our Hoffman service departments, read on for a potential simple solution to this alarming issue.
When we have major snowstorms, snow can build up in the wheels and cause your tires to become unbalanced. This unbalance causes your vehicle to vibrate when driving at or above highway speeds.
How do I solve this?
Letting the snow melt away (or cleaning in between the spokes of your wheels to remove all snow) should allow your wheels to operate properly once again. However, if your vehicle appears clear of snow and ice and you are still feeling the vibrations, bring your vehicle to one of our climate-controlled Hoffman service departments. The snow, or a devious pothole, may have done some damage to your wheels that needs to be addressed.
